0. Prototype does have co-op, just not implemented. June 15th, 2009, 11:31 pm
I was talking to my buddy on x-fire and I noticed that information dialog box said he was on a server. It had the U.S. Flag and it had an ip address next to it, stating that he was currently online playing on a server. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a screen-shot and the server notice vanished. I believe that RE will come out with DLC that will implement co-op for the ps3 and xbox 360, and the PC will get a patch. Take my word for it, I have no reason to lie to the Prototype community. What I do know is that RE has left most of the net-code by what I have just seen on x-fire. Modders will be able to easily add a multiplayer function to the game. Take a look at what programmers did for GTA and Elder Scrolls IV.

It's only a matter of time.
UPDATE! Found it again!
UPDATE: If any of you know how to configure the ini, or open the developers console for prototype, I'm sure we can get co-op to work. just type connect (ip address). I'm not sure on how to do this though, if anyone is smart enough to figure it out though post here. You may need to use hamachi as well. I'm not sure if this will work, but every game uses a dev console, and one of the most basic commands for multiplayer is the "connect". If RE experimented or even played multi-player on prototype, then a dev console would be implemented, and the connect command would work.Last edited by Defial on June 16th, 2009, 12:03 am, edited 3 times in total. -

GTA4 does fine with multiplayer/co-op because of the way the game is structured. On a personal note, Co-Op for Prototype will make the game super easy, more fun, sure, but they'll need to find ways to add challenge so it doesn't become boring quickly. Adding a few extra enemies in a fight or increasing their HP and damage and lowering yours while taking damage doesn't count as a challenge neither ;p
But Co-Op shouldn't be considered the saving grace. What Prototype lacks is what makes GTA4 really good, side missions. Events an Hunting for WOI, Location Marks and Hints do not count as side missions, there's nothing exciting about them, and doing the same events time and time again gets relatively frustrating. -

A free roaming cooperative experience would add a new layer of depth and entertainment to the game. It's missing the interactivity between the npc's and the story is lacking. It will bring what is needed to the game in my opinion. Playing the storyline with a friend would be hella fun

Weird.....but if it's true, I'm calling RadicalCannibal or Grond to be my partner right away
How did your friend get coop.....I'm curious.....Do not EVER summon me, it would result in dire and unforseen consequences-even for myself !

He wasn't playing co-op, it was single player. But X-fire was showing that he was hosting a server, or he was on a server of some kind. -

I remember the time when I was playing Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast.
In the FFA mode everyone was sitting together talking having fun, doing duels and stuff, very peaceful and nice community in the beginnings of the game. If there would be a FFA mode like in JK2 Jedi Outcast I think videos like Gmod videos are possible, roleplaying etc
I imagine CTF to be really fun in Prototype

nice find matey!
we're still waiting on the release of cheats for the game. im hoping for some cool ones like Moon-gravity like in their previous game Hulk:UD.
This information also correlates with what the head of Radical said about there once being Co-op in Prototype before they took it out.
The way they can make co-op FUN and challenging is through the events. it would be awesome if you could race against each other, have glide competetions. see who can score the most in Kill events and each player takes a side in the war event and duke it out until one of their armies is decimated.

I would literally * my pants for 20 minutes straight (i would find a way) if they put co op in but I just don't think it'll be in... prove me wrong... I want it in but I don't want to build up hype for co op and then be let down.

Agreed. I understand Radical wanted to do their own thing but it wouldn't have hurt to look at things Rockstar is doing right with their games. Take a little bit of this and that and implement it into Prototype. Whether people like it or not GTA Series is the king of sandbox games, take notes devs!

16. Re: Prototype does have co-op, just not implemented. June 16th, 2009, 9:00 am
it was cool because you could chill with your friends, get smashed, all kinds of stuff that related to what the game was about, not just kill this many things in a given time and such, you actually had choices that changed the game a little bit.... it felt real, they didn't just make it a standard vidoe game with "events" what the f*ck is that??? some of them were cool but NONE of them tied into the story.... that took me out of the game and reminded me that is was just a game.... that hurt the immersion(idk if the devs wanted immersion or not or if you guys care about that.... can't see why not) -
17. Re: Prototype does have co-op, just not implemented. June 16th, 2009, 9:25 am
I did have a couple of ides for co-op, one was a head-to-head mode in either a military base, a hive, or just one massive clash over the entire city. Or, you could just let two people go on a rampage around the city, causing havoc to their heart's content.

I'll just say, there are other reasons why games would be "online" than co-op. Maybe streaming ads? -

Yea. Not saying we should give Alex a cell phone and have Ragland call him every so often so you guys can go see "Big American Teetees!" But Side missions (not events) that are tied to the story would be nice. Variety in the missions, too. I know this isn't a stealth game but infiltration was really lacking. I thought when we were being sent to Gentek we would be running down hallways, tearing through rooms, etc.

I don't use Xfire anymore, but I don't think the presence of an IP address on a dialog like that to automatically indicate that Prototype has some hidden co-op mode or something.
And I agree re: another later of side missions. The Events are fun for awhile, but having non-story missions to do would be great. -

ok...so back to the co-op topic if they were even to think about it then they could use dana as the other player as she could develop alex's powers because the last time you see her is when she is in the morgue and she just got rescued from a hive so she might have died and the infection found its way into her blood stream like alex -
30. Re: Prototype does have co-op, just not implemented. June 16th, 2009, 3:34 pm
Or, there could be original costume alex and leather jacket alex as co-op. the co-op was meant to be they cloned him or something right?"Hey Cole, Is that a reaper?" "huh?" *Neck Snaps* -
31. Re: Prototype does have co-op, just not implemented. June 16th, 2009, 3:41 pm
Well, radical might add co-op but I doubt it. A couple of months before the release there was still co-op but the reason why (I think) is it would effect the story. It would be kinda strange adding another character to the storyline. Who would it be? Alex's sister is dying, greene is dead, the specialist is dead, and the miltary leader is dead. So it must be diffuclt to make a "new" character for prototype, unless it was Greene's baby. Oh wait! -

How do you figure a couple months before release? Coop was cancelled like a year before release. Spending so much time on developing a feature with no clear direction (how it would be integrated), seems like a huge waste of money and man-hours.
Just wondering, because that's quite a statement you just made. -
